Astrophysics & cosmology from line intensity mapping vs galaxy surveys

چکیده

Line intensity mapping (LIM) proposes to efficiently observe distant faint galaxies and map the matter density field at high redshift. Building upon formalism in companion paper, we first highlight degeneracies between cosmology astrophysics LIM. We discuss what can be constrained from measurements of mean redshift-space power spectra. With a sufficient spectral resolution, large-scale distortions 2-halo term measured, helping break degeneracy bias intensity. higher measuring small-scale disentangles 1-halo shot noise terms. Cross-correlations with external galaxy catalogs or lensing surveys further degeneracies. derive requirements for experiments similar SPHEREx, HETDEX, CDIM, COMAP CONCERTO. then revisit question optimality LIM observables, compared detection, cosmology. use matched filter compute luminosity detection threshold individual sources. show that contains information about too detect, high-noise high-confusion regimes. quantify sparsity clustering detected sources compare them LIM, showing which cases is better tracer density. extend previous work by answering these questions as function Fourier scale, including time effect cosmic variance, pixel-to-pixel correlations, luminosity-dependent distortions.

Studies of Structure Formation and Cosmology with Galaxy Cluster Surveys

Surveys of galaxy clusters provide a promising method of testing models of structure formation in the universe. Within the context of our standard structure formation scenario, surveys provide measurements of the geometry of the universe and the nature of the dark energy and dark matter. Cluster catalogues will be constructed using some combination of X–ray, optical/near–IR, and mm or cm-wave o...

Astronomy and Astrophysics Cosmology from Cosmic Microwave Background and Galaxy Clusters

We present the results of analysis of constraints on cosmological parameters from cosmic microwave background (CMB) alone and in combination with galaxy cluster baryon fraction assuming inflation– generated adiabatic scalar fluctuations. The CMB constraints are obtained using our likelihood approximation method (Bartlett et al., 2000, Douspis et al., 2001). In the present analysis we use the ne...

High-Energy Astrophysics and Cosmology

Interfaces between high-energy physics, astrophysics and cosmology are reviewed, with particular emphasis on the important roles played by high-energy cosmic-ray physics. These include the understanding of atmospheric neutrinos, the search for massive cold dark matter particles and possible tests of models of quantum gravity. In return, experiments at the LHC may be useful for refining models o...
